Suzdal, Russia

The 8th International Workshop, “Organic Electronics of Highly-Correlated Molecular Systems”, was held at Suzdal, one of the most famous touristic sightseeing in the Golden Ring of ancient Russian cities located around Moscow, on September 23–25, 2018. This workshop was organized by Ivanovo State University of Chemical Technology (Ivanovo, Russia). Seven previous regular Workshops on Organic Electronics of Highly Correlated Molecular Systems were successful international scientific events addressed to specialists in the synthesis and characterization of organic functional materials and their device applications. They were held since 2013 in London, UK (2013), Otaru, Japan (2014), Moscow, Russia (2015), St. Andrews, UK (2016), Novosibirsk, Russia (2016), Montreal, Canada (2017) and Nagoya, Japan (2017).

In the beginning of this workshop (Day 1), Prof. Oskar I. Koifman (President of ISUCT), and Prof. Awaga had an opening remark. In the workshop, 6 lectures and 23 oral talks were given by core members, and their young researchers and students from Russia, Japan, Germany, China and Spain. And 31 posters were given by the Russian members. Throughout this workshop, participants gained a better understanding of research in organic electronics and discussed new research collaboration. Prof. Pavel A. Stuzhin and Prof. Kunio Awaga gave closing remarks at the end of the workshop.

After the workshop, we made an excursion to the downtown of Suzdal in the afternoon of Day 2. The banquet was held in Hotel Pushkarskaya Sloboda after the excursion. We enjoyed the party, food, and performance given by the Russian folk band. On Day 3, we visited the Ivanovo State University of Chemical Technology and Plyos, a beautiful town located on the right bank of the Volga River.                         (Wu YANG, Nagoya University)
