JSPS Core-to-Core/Leverhulme Trust Seventh Joint Workshop, Nagoya 2017, “Organic Electronics of Highly-Correlated Molecular Systems”, was held in Noyori Materials Science Research Building, Nagoya University on 20th Nov. and in Room 105, Hilton Nagoya on 21st Nov. This workshop is the seventh and final meeting of this core-to-core program, following six workshops in London (2013), Otaru (2014), Moscow (2015), St. Andrews (2016), Novosibirsk (2016), and Montreal (2017). This time, Coordinator of this program, Prof. Awaga organized the conference place and program, and ca. 60 people attended this workshop.

In the beginning of this workshop, Prof. Awaga had an opening remark, and then twenty-two talks were given by mainly core members, and their young researchers and students for two days. Russian members mainly talked about syntheses and physical properties of thiazyl and chalcogen-containing radicals, while Canadian and UK members gave talks on optoelectronics devices, perovskite solar cells, phthalocyanine-based devices and so on. Japanese groups reported supramolecular chemistry related topics such as metal organic frameworks as well as physical properties of highly-correlated organic molecules. Actually, this workshop covered various topics from fundamental to applications. In the poster session held on 20th, eighteen posters were presented, and the best poster award was given to Mr. Nitta from Sakamoto group (Chiba Univ.). Finally, Profs. Awaga, Robertson, Preuss, Zibarev, and Stuzhin had closing remarks in the end of 21st. Additionally, we also discussed our research collaboration in Nagoya Univ. on 22nd.

The banquet was held in Hilton Nagoya at night on 20th, and we had delicious foods with pleasant talks. In the middle of the banquet, we also enjoyed slide shows on our research collaboration over the past five years, which were made by Dr. Zhang (Awaga group, Nagoya Univ.). New seeds on research collaboration are being born based on this program. A group photograph in this workshop was taken at Room 105, Hilton Nagoya before lunch of the second day.

JSPS Core-to-Coreプログラム第七回かつ最終の会議が、2017年11月20～22日の日程で、名古屋にて開催されました。会場は、初日が名古屋大学野依記念物質科学研究館、二日目がヒルトン名古屋最上階One O Fiveで、最終日は研究打ち合わせなどを名古屋大にて行いました。今回は、本プログラムのコーディネーターである阿波賀教授が中心となって、会場やプログラムがアレンジされ、当日はコアメンバーとその研究室に所属する若手研究者および学生ら約60名が参加しました。

まず、初日の最初に、今回の主催者かつ本プログラムのコーディネーターである阿波賀教授より開会の辞があり、その後、コアメンバーとその研究室の若手研究者や学生らを中心に計22件の口頭発表が二日間にわたり行われました。ロシアおよびカナダのグループからは主にチアジルやカルコゲン含有ラジカル化合物の合成と物性が、イギリスのグループからはオプトエレクトロニクスデバイス関連やペロブスカイト太陽電池、フタロシアニン類縁体を用いたデバイス特性に関する内容が主に報告されました。一方で、日本のグループからは、本プログラムの中心的課題である強相関系有機分子の物性だけではなく、金属有機構造体を始めとする超分子関連の研究内容なども報告されました。二日目の最後には、阿波賀教授、Robertson 教授、Preusss教授、Zibarev教授、Stuzhin教授より閉会の辞があり、二日間にわたる会議は終了しました。なお、初日のポスターセッションでは、18件のポスター発表がなされ、コアメンバーを中心とした厳正な審査の結果、千葉大坂本グループの新田君が、ルブレン単結晶の光電子分光に関する発表内容により、ポスター賞を受賞しました。

懇親会は、初日の夜にヒルトン名古屋にて催され、美味しい料理と歓談を楽しみました。懇親会の中盤では、阿波賀グループ張博士により制作された5年間の研究交流を振り返る映像が流されるとともに、最後まで話は尽きませんでした。本プログラムを基に、新しい研究交流の芽が生まれつつあります。全体集合写真は、二日目の昼食前に、会場内で撮影されたものです。
