Associate Professor Yoshikawa (Kwansei Gakuin Univ.) attended the 100th Canadian Chemistry Conference and Exhibition (CSC 2017) held at Metro Toronto Convention Centre in Toronto. This is an annual meeting of the Chemical Society of Canada and was successfully conducted as the 100th anniversary. More than ten sessions, ranging from chemical education, environmental chemistry, organic, inorganic, analytical, physical and materials chemistry went on in parallel.
Associate Professor Yoshikawa gave his oral presentation in the session of Materials Chemistry in the afternoon on 31th May, and deepened a friendship with the session organizer. Professor Robertson also gave his presentation in the same session. Our Core-to Core program’s Canadian members (Perepichika, Preuss, and Rawson) organized some sessions in this CSC meeting. This was a good experience to see differences with our CSJ (the Chemical Society of Japan) spring meeting.
吉川准教授（関西学院大）がトロントのMetro Toronto Convention Centreで開催された the 100th Canadian Chemistry Conference and Exhibition (CSC 2017)に参加しました。本会議は、カナダ化学会の年会に相当するものであり、100回目の記念大会ということで、盛大に催されました。化学教育や環境化学から有機、無機分析、物理、材料化学まで多岐にわたる10個以上のパラレルセッションが同時に進行し、どれも立ち見が出る盛況ぶりでした。吉川准教授は5月31日午後にMaterials Chemistryのセッションで口頭講演を行い、講演後はセッションオーガナイザーとも親交を深めました。また、エジンバラ大のRobertson教授も同じセッションで講演をおこないました。なお、本Core-to-Coreプログラムのカナダ側メンバーはCSC2017でいくつかのセッションオーガナイザーを務めていました。日本化学会春季年会との相違点を知ることができた非常に良い経験となりました。
