The 12th European Conference on Molecular Electronics (ECME) is the premier European conference in the field of molecular electronics. The conference was held in London during September 3-7, 2013. In this conference, we were able to attend various lectures; specifically, crystal design for organic semiconductors by Dr. John Anthony (University of Kentucky), organic solar cells by Dr. Alessandro Troisi (Warwick University), and optoelectric devices by Dr. Antonio Fachetti (Northwestern University/ Polyera) from these lectures we were able to gain new points of view of molecular electronics and expand our knowledge about experimental processes. In addition, we had the chance to attend a lecture about ferroelectric materials by a young researcher like Dr. Mengyuan Li, a Ph.D. student at Groningen University, which inspired us very much. Furthermore, during the poster presentation, we had valuable discussions with Dr. Norbert Koch (Humboldt University) and other experts on molecular electronics.

ECMEは我々の研究分野と関連が深い分子エレクトロニクスを対象とし、世界中から講演者を募った主要な学会です。12回目となる今年はロンドンにて9月3日～7日の日程で開催されました。学会では、Kentucky大学のJohn Anthony氏による有機半導体の結晶設計についての講演や、Warwick大学のAlessandro Troisi氏による有機太陽電池の講演、更にはAntonio Fachetti氏による光電子デバイス関連の講演など、これまでにない新たな視点や実験手法について多くの深い知見を得ることができました。加えて、Groningen大学のMengyuan Liさんによる強誘電性材料の新たな作製手法など、若手研究者の画期的な研究にも触れ、大変刺激になりました。我々の研究グループの発表でも、Norbert Koch氏らが訪れ、深い議論を行うことができ、非常に充実したものとなりました。
